Ghosts of the Past
While the world beats savage around me,
I stay at arm's length.
There is a sea of love running through my
veins
and you are my shore,
I never felt like I belonged here before,
learning quickly there was more to reject
than accept,
reinventing myself again and again.
Choosing my own colours in the darkness
of life,
elements of youth mixed like a raw
cocktail.
John P Hindle
Alone
I am left again in solitude
to collect my thoughts
and hear the pattern of peace
running through me
without another person
there is a spirit inside me
a reflection of heaven
against the ripples of tide
in the sea of humanity
golden embers break the horizon
warming the footsteps of a silhouette
out of darkness..
John P Hindle
Coma
I return to nothingness
an extension of my reality
embracing the spirit
and closer to self
enlightenment in the inner world
everything could be of great consequence.
I was in the heart of human beings
my own island of liberty
the hopes and prayers for a young boy
a time of immeasurable struggle
unable to communicate
in a secret world connecting to belief
holding onto the core of the earth
without drama God spoke.
John P Hindle
Liberation
In the dark
a pulse like a lighthouse
reaches over turbulent water
breathing hope in adversity.
Aligning to freedom
like a heart beats for love
a common currency
on the path to harmony.
Engaged in this universe
discovery is ours
elevating spirit and soul
united and strengthening
my belief in the world.
John P Hindle
Rise
I walk by the tracks to the shore,
footsteps follow the wind,
fall gently in darkness,
does the wind sigh like a lost soul?
the stars align a path,
their light penetrates through my deep
loneliness,
with every breath my heart fragments,
I become pure light like a shaman,
a primitive form of magic,
cocooned and revealing movement,
my spirit connects to intuition,
I look inward.
John P Hindle
Light
He can't bring her inside,
but she still holds a pendant of hope.
A picture in a locket,
the rock star yearnings of a young boy,
school book still open,
standing ready for the ball,
he holds on from a window in a dark
room,
reaching out to her,
forcing the door,
detached but just a grip away,
music is the only thing underneath his
skin,
drumbeats break him out of silence,
spotlights on a ventilator,
holding each reflection before it splinters,
let's roll the dice, see what he gets,
candles lit at Mass,
rocking between life and death Our Lady,
at Ladyewell shrine love taken from the
divine.
John P Hindle
Within
Remember what peace we can
foster within these walls
away from the drum beat
of the mind
leave your ego behind
there's harmony to find
the freedom of the sea
and personal island of liberty
connecting to light
the space of universal self
where heart guides
find your peace
your very own truth and privilege
always be open and life
will never be darkened.
John P Hindle
Reflection
Remember as a child,
when you put your ear to a shell
and could hear the ocean,
open to the universe.
Water running into sand,
collecting pebbles,
carrying the gentle waves
in the hands of time.
Those trips to the seaside,
the escape from town,
that community spirit,
everything in a collective breath.
Sand, sea and sky
as far as the eye can see,
narrow ridges and sharp peaks,
Cumbrian mountains in atmospheric sky.
John P Hindle
Surge
I close my eyes and meditate on words,
trying to get out of this world,
held back by walls,
I look into my stream of thoughts
and breathe for peace anchoring
connection,
colours change in the pallet,
open space waits in gentle love and
kindness,
growth flows like an explosion from
the core,
streaming into a cascade of earthly
shades
like a magnet penetrating energy,
reaching and driving into progress,
currents edge towards the source,
enriching the passage in a surge of
light.
John P Hindle
Fusion
Lights project in the pallet
shadows captivate depths
morphing into perspective
of dimension and scale
fused in the echo of colour
polarizing the atmosphere
obscuring existence within creation
vision in shadows
twisted in hues and tones
all forms escape into the cosmos
in the ecliptic path of the sun
a breath for life.

Millennium Eve
The host finds his dancing shoes
it's going to be a long night
music fills the atmosphere
I am young and introverted
Five Years by David Bowie sets me free
I find growth in my heart
like champagne sparkle
three become six
on the millennium hologramic floor
a glitter ball projects
on the party-giver's floor show
someone offers me a drink
the door opens again
and sequins sparkle on a dress
underneath pink neon lights
a sign projects: The future is yours
Padge, Barkit and Polopony
tell their stories
the world at one around me
solidarity in subculture
searching for my soul
breaking out
we are most alive in this love.
