Welcome to our Project Page
Our current theme is:
The Moments In Between
The aim of this series of projects is to highlight and share the energy, creativity and resilience of the human spirit during what are, in different ways, proving to be
difficult and challenging times for everyone.
The two current projects are:
Work from Home
&
Sense of Self in 7 Objects
See below for details
We look forward to seeing your entries!
Title:Seed Pod
Pit fired ceramics.
'There is something really comforting about sitting with the fire as the pots are licked by the flames during these tough times.
The pieces are being transformed by the fire - and reminds me that we too will come out the other end of this.
I hope that wherever these pots end up, they will remind their new owners that the scars of adversity are what make you unique and beautiful.’
Title: Hope
Acrylic painting
'My lockdown painting called hope.
A positive from lockdown... being able to paint as gifts for your friends and family as a lot more time on your hands.'
Title: Lets Dance
Acrylic painting 60cm x 60cm
‘Another canvas I am working on at the moment. It's been such a help, during these difficult times, having the ability to create artwork. When we were locked down, painting provided direction to my life - it kept me driving forward and didn't require contact with the outside world. I'd only just started experimenting with abstract painting, so the isolation was actually very useful, without the usual distractions to run to. It forced me to focus my energy in the one place and I was hugely creative, especially at the start. Now the outside world is back, at least for now, and it's definitely harder!’
Title: Untitled transient drawing
Here is a scratched slate pic, typical of my 30 minute efforts during covid idleness. With slate on slate there is almost no pressure to make a likeness. It is perhaps just revealing an ambiguous likeness or lightness just under the surface of the dark surface. Take a snap, just rub it out with the sleeve of your jumper and it's ready to go again.
